AHASFV President's Message — February, 2012

Happy February and Valentine's Day to all our members!

It's the month for expressing our friendship, love, and gratitude for the special people and animals in our lives. I love and appreciate the people who provide me unconditional support, my family who grows even stronger when the going gets tough, and the horses that provide my daily therapy.

Your club's Board is busy putting together the calendar for the year. Stephanie Bennett will be sending out a short questionnaire this month via email to see what type of activities you'd be most interested in having us sponsor. Please take a minute to give us some feedback.

Cynthia Binder is planning our first trail ride of the year on Sunday, February 12 in Happy Camp in Moorpark with a rain date at the end of March should we actually get some weather this winter. The flyer in our Trail Rides section has all the details.

The Youth Judging Team will be competing in Pomona over President's Day weekend in a 4-H Regional contest. The kids will be testing out their skills in hippology, horse judging, and in the Horse Bowl. This will be their only official contest before travelling to the Arabian Horse Nationals. Any youth interested in the judging team should contact me. It's not too late to jump into the action.

Our first fun show of the year is scheduled for March 11, with a rain date of March 18, in Simi Valley. We're having extra jumping classes as requested on our Facebook group page. The class list is available in the AHASFV Shows as well as in this month's newsletter. This is the major fundraiser for our youth, so we encourage you to bring your horse for a day of fun, or consider volunteering to help keep the show running smoothly.

Down the road a few months, is the May show in Santa Barbara. Jeff Reichman has made some changes that should make for a great show. We'll

provide more details on our website and on Facebook once the premiums are done. We are also thrilled with the V6 ranch plans that Kathleen Green is putting together for the club in September.

Stay tuned for more club activities and plan on joining us!
Sincerely,
Meaghan Shaffer
