AHASFV President's Message — September, 2008 |
 |
| Our General Meeting in September will be held in conjunction with our monthly board meeting. At this meeting we will formally announce the slate of nominations for Officers, Board members and Delegates for next year (also listed below). We also will call for nominations from the floor for anyone else who wants to run for any club position. This meeting will be called to order at 7:30 p.m. on September 9, 2008 at Marie Callenders, 19310 Business Center Dr., Northridge. At the conclusion of the General meeting we will go forward with our monthly Board of Directors meeting which everyone is welcome to attend. |

During the second weekend in October, Meaghan Shaffer will host a trail ride at Rancho Sierra Vista in Newbury Park, which will also be our General meeting for the purpose of elections. Prior to the ride we will vote for any positions that are contested. The outcome of any necessary vote will be announced after the trail ride and in the November newsletter. If there are no nominees in addition to those brought forward by the Nominating Committee in our September meeting, that slate will be deemed elected by acclimation effective November 1, 2008. In that case we will have the trail ride just for fun (as it should be).
I attended the August AHA Board of Directors meeting in Denver as the Director-elect. There was a vast variety of business conducted and the new Executive Vice President, Mr. Glenn Petty, addressed the direction he hopes to help lead this organization. We all think he is a much needed addition to the Denver staff and will change the direction for the AHA for the better. Mr. Petty has agreed to come to Region 2 and address our membership, so all of you will be welcome to attend the meeting to be held in November at the beautiful Greengate Farms. More info next month.
Finally, on behalf of the Nominating Committee, I am pleased to announce the nominations for next year's Officers, Directors and Delegates as follows:
President: Teri Gonzalez-Reichman Vice President: Meaghan Shaffer Board of Directors: Paul Martinez, Courtney Surfas, Stephanie Bennett, Jane Haven Delegates: Teri Gonzalez-Reichman, Jane Haven, Stephanie Bennett
Congratulations to all!
As always, I welcome your calls and wish you the best.
Jeff Reichman AHASFV President
